2012 WOMEN'S TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM ONLINE APPLICATION

Welcome to the Women's Technology Program online application!

You will use this portal to complete your application for the 2012 Women's Technology Program. WTP is a four week residential summer program which starts June 23, 2012 and ends July 21, 2012. WTP provides an opportunity for top female high school students to explore engineering through hands-on classes, labs, and team-based projects in the summer after 11th grade.

Students attend WTP in either Electrical Engineering and Computer Science or in Mechanical Engineering. If you have a preference for one of the curriculum tracks there is a question in the application where you may indicate your preference; however, we do not expect you to have a preference, and for most applicants we select the track that we think suits you best.

To apply to WTP, please make sure that you submit the entire online application by January 1, 2012. The online application includes sections where you will enter personal, academic, test score and extracurricular information about yourself and four essays.

Four Essay Questions: We also ask you to write long answers to four questions that will help us better understand your interests and personality. These questions are your opportunity to help us get to know you in ways not represented by your test scores and grades. These should be personal responses, not abstract writing or essays you might do for a class assignment. Please write about different activities for each question, so we gain broader insights into your interests.

Recommender Contact Information for a Math Teacher, a Science Teacher, and a Guidance Counselor or School Registrar: When you hit the final "Submit" button for your entire online WTP application (on or before January 1st) we automatically send email messages to these individuals requesting information by January 11th. Your Science and Math Teacher will each be sent a link to an online Teacher Evaluation Form. Your Guidance Counselor or School Registrar will be asked to upload your high school transcript and your standardized test scores. It is the responsibility of the applicant to check with the Teachers immediately after completing the WTP application, to confirm that this email was received by them. Please inform your teachers now that you have given us their contact information so they will expect our request for information about you. If they want more information about WTP, give them this link: http://wtp.mit.edu/application.html.

Financial Assistance with WTP tuition fee: Please answer all the questions on the Financial Assistance Request page if you would like to apply for a waiver or discount of the WTP $3,000 tuition fee. We make every effort to provide assistance to families with demonstrated financial need. Tuition assistance is decided after we admit students; this information is not reviewed as part of the admissions decision process.

We look forward to reading your application!
